Sweet Serendipity

It’s been quite a week. A very good friend of mine had found a pre-built PC on Newegg. It was pretty simple, nothing extremely fancy, for a pretty good price. 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, a NVIDIA GTX 1050-i Graphics Card, and an Intel i5 processor. In layman’s terms, it’s a pretty decent computer build that can run everything I need as a writer, and some basic games for my enjoyment in between. I ordered it, waited for it to ship out, and finally unboxed it on Wednesday. After a bit of an issue with getting the WiFi card situated, I finally loaded up Skyrim (for probably the millionth time on yet another device for me) and noticed it was running at top speed at full capability. So I decided to check out my settings and discovered that the PC I ordered was surprisingly not the one I received. Instead, I was enjoying an Intel i7 processor with 16GB RAM, the same graphics card, a 1TB HDD, and a 250GB SSD. Turns out, this PC can run nearly anything as smooth as molasses, and I cannot express how lucky this is. I also decided to outfit the new PC with a new monitor (my previous desktop was an all-in-one and my second monitor was an ancient Dell that had some minor issues), a Samsung 27” Curved Monitor. While most of the bells and whistles of this new PC are geared towards gaming, I am certainly looking forward to being able to work on all of my writing projects on a PC that runs like the wind, is dependable, and allows me to multitask efficiently. Also, the microphone isn’t just for gaming! I’m hoping to, pending their completion, record audio versions of all of my short stories and poems for people who are blind or visually impaired. This will probably be released in some kind of podcast format and made available on all platforms as well as this website. Here’s hoping this upgrade means more completed projects soon!
